My name is Kateri Likoudis, and I am a documentary photographer based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Growing up on Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes Region of New York has given me a profound appreciation for nature and great love of exploring the world around me. I fell in love with the arts as a little girl, constantly painting and drawing the beautiful landscapes, people and animals in my life. For many years I studied fine arts, with a concentration in painting. In 2004, my focus shifted to documentary photography as I began work with an international relief organization, Food for the Poor (FFP).

My work with FFP led me to document their projects in sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, housing and education in Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. These travels instilled in me a great desire to see the world and photograph its amazingly diverse people and ways in which they live.

Personal endeavors have since taken me through Central America and Southeast Asia, as well as on solo cross-country explorations of The United States.

Recent work with Philadelphia restauranteurs has allowed me to explore much of Italy's undeveloped Central & Southern regions. On these research trips, I photographed medieval villages, their inhabitants, ancient customs and culinary traditions.

When not on assignment, I am happy exploring my own community, and tending to my vegetable and flower gardens in the heart of South Philly.

Available for editorial work, portraits, non profit events, stories in the community & research projects.

I strive to create imagery that is honest and visually compelling, and to tell my subjects' stories with a sensitive, artistic, and journalistic approach. The ability to capture the beauty of everyday life, to freeze a moment in time - no matter how remarkable or mundane - gives me great joy.

Equally comfortable with analog and digital technologies, I use both according to the needs of the project.
